Why a Bank Policy Page?

As the Science Guild continues to grow, we find that our members differ greatly in WoW experience. It has become necessary to outline some basic expectations and responsibilities as members are added. Many members have been in active guilds before and have a good general knowledge of how guilds operate; however, some are complete novices who might need a little more guidance. This page is to outline general and commonly accepted guild bank policies. Eventually, we will have more and better organized bank tabs. This is a working document...feel free to make additional suggestions or to modify existing guidelines. If there is serious disagreement on any guideline, please take it to the discussion page before making a major change.

If you do not have bank access, you must talk to the officer who invited you into the guild about being promoted so that you may get access. Current policy is that the officer who invited you is responsible for promoting you. If for some reason that officer has been unavailable to you, send them an in-game email. If all else fails, contact another officer who will be more than happy to contact his/her colleagues for you.

Guild Bank Guidelines

1. Items in the first tab are available to any guild member, up to their allowed withdrawal limits per day. If you do not want to make an item available to all, do NOT put it in the first tab.

2. Items in the second tab are available to officers. If you see an item in the second tab that you would like, ask a guild officer if you may have it. Currently, disbursement of tab 2 items is at the individual officer's discretion.

3. It is hoped that all guild members above the rank of assistant will contribute to the guild bank. Items that are particularly welcome are crafting materials, extra quest items (such as Stranglethorn pages), and crafted quest items (such as the Deadly Blunderbuss). Potions are also very welcome, as is MONEY!

4. It is hoped that guild members will not contribute "junk" items to the bank, as this fills the bank with items nobody needs. Periodically, the bank will be cleaned out. All unwanted items will be sold and the proceeds returned to the guild bank. The guild will be notified in the event of a bank clearance and members will be given the opportunity to claim items for a period of time before the clearance. Items deemed to be "junk" will be sold at the bank manager's discretion, and no notice will be given for the sale of these items. "Junk" items are grey items or items of such a low level that they are worthless to any guild member.

5. You will not be kicked out of the guild if you do not contribute to the guild bank. However, if a pattern is noted where a member consistently withdraws items but contributes only "junk" items or nothing at all, that member may be denied access to the bank.

6. It is hoped that members will take only items that they can wear immediately or use immediately for crafting or for a quest. In the event that a member is observed to consistently take items that are higher than the member's level or are items that the member is not eligible to use (such as a rogue removing plate armor items), that member will be assumed to be selling those items or giving them to non-guild characters. That member may lose bank access and runs the risk of being uninvited from the guild. This is ninja behavior, and Article I of the guild constitution is NO NINJAS.

7. Currently, members' alts will have the same access to the bank as their main. This is now under discussion at the forum, and may be changed to reflect a different conclusion.

8. Take what you NEED from the guild bank. This does not include selling items from the bank to raise money (ninja behavior). If you are *this* close to a mount or some other worthy goal, put it on the wish list or ask your guildies in-game...you may find that some generous guildies respond. The guild bank cash at present is dedicated to improving the guild.

9. To sum up: take what you need, and give what you can. Check the wish list! Maybe you can help a fellow member with something that's just vendor trash to you- and they may return the favor someday :)

There are now four bank tabs. Discussion on how to use them most effectively is taking place in the guild forum. This page will be updated to reflect the results of that discussion.

Current Bank Officer

Crowhorn has volunteered to be the bank manager for the time being, and will determine which items are kept and which are sold at periodic bank clearances.
