Got some ideas for how the Science guild wiki should evolve? Here's a good place for that... Just hit the + tab above or edit the entries below.

Main Page aesthetics

As a general rule, let's avoid creating too many subsections on the Main Page. Once there are at least 4 or 5 of them, the Wikimedia software automatically creates an unsightly table of contents at the top of the page. Yuck. That should be avoided, methinks. --Gonzo 11:55, 10 September 2008 (EST)

Science guild anarchy

...that would be a pretty good description of the current organization.  :)

Garaka says: Okay, so how do we rectify this situation? We need some leadership, more than just a single guildmaster, a hierarchy of officers, elected by the people of the guild. We need some vision on who we are and who we want to become. The upcoming article in Science (the journal) will likely send a lot of visitors and potential new members our way. Don't we want to have a clearer image of ourselves ready to present to them? What about a charter? This idea was floated at the brief informal meeting we held a couple of weeks ago, but no one wanted to draft one. I think the main reason was that we didn't know where to start. So my first suggestion is to take some guidance from other guilds, particularly Alea Iacta Est, for whom we apparently hold a great amount of respect. Their charter is located here. They also have a set of Member Policies and Responsibilities laid out. Obviously, we will want to add some statement of purpose that relates to our interest in scientific inquiry, but I think these examples would be a good place to start. --Garaka 21:57, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Gonzorina says: I think we've found a Science guild constitutional author!  :) Garaka, why don't you go ahead and make a Science_Guild_constitution page with the above info, your suggestions, and link it on the Main Page? That'll get the ball rolling!

OK, I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling... --Gonzo 03:46, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
